Don't despair! Just stop counting and everything will be fine!AHHHHHH!I just passed the point of small flock. I now have 36 since I just hatched out 13.![]()
The question is, did You get the incubator for yourself or did your husband get it for you. If DH gave it to you, he has just given you Permission. The (chicken) world is yours!I'm so glad I'm not alone!! I started with 5 silkie chicken and 1 old english last spring. Then my brother was moving so I took his 7 egg layer with a coop! I wanted more so to suck up to my dh I got 6 turkeys. He just loves wild ones so why not ones that stay in our yard. Then a chicken show was coming up. My girls needed good show quality for 4h. So out of there we left with a smooth and frizzle polishs and a lavender ameraucana. The next day my neighbours dog decided to come over and caped my (umm... my daughter's I mean) ameraucana. I couldn't give her a sick bird. So I found a breeder and same day brought home 2 ameraucanas.
My dh saw a D'unncle and fell in love so I bought him 3 for being a wonderful husband. I was reading posts on here and saw a post for Muscovy ducks. I sold the idea to my dh by telling him they don't quack and are wonderful for meat. So I got 2. I didn't mention they have 4 clutches a year... oops... so we are up to 29 plus 50 meaties!!! He just rolls his eyes and smiles. I just got a incubator for Christmas... so we will have to test it out real soon.![]()

LOL. Hubby has no clue how many we actually have - he's too busy to count the chickens as fast as they are. One day he may figure it out - THEN there may be a problem.Don't despair! Just stop counting and everything will be fine!

I don't have chicks yet but I do have a decent case of chicken math....
Ordered 10 of one breed (A)... Only 6 hatched so breeder offers some of the other breeds to replace the missing 4... I can get 5 of breed (B) for the price of 4 (A) so that makes 11.... Then DD comes up with her Bday money and wants 4 of breed (C) ... Soo apparently with chicken math logic 10 of one breed = 15 of 3 different breeds lol.
We're picking them up this weekend yay!!!!
