Explaining Chicken Math

Pahahaha !
I have just googled chicken math... at least I can tell himself its a known phonomenom. Too late for me..my pair becme 4 then 9, then dropped due to a tragic dog incident, then we adooted a broody hen and a survivor of another dog incident at a friends house.up to 7 girls
.. now I have 2 dozen quail in an incubator and am thinking about getting some 'fancy' eggs to boost our ageing flock.
;)
In good company I'm thinking. :D

Yes you are. You won't hear any arguments from us. You'd better go get those fancy eggs! And since eggs don't count...get some chickens while you're at it.

I have read through all of these posts and have never laughed so hard in my life! I'm trying to convvince the boyfriend that we need a 2nd coop, but he's not agreeing.........lol. We went from starting with 5 bantams to +4 big hens + about 7 more hens plus a big rooster. He says if I get rid of the 5 bantams then I can get some more hens "that lay eggs", no more little ones til spring. Oh and I have 3 silkies in my basement that are 13 weeks old! But our 3 hen silkies are 2 roos and 1 hen we think. So I need to get more silkie hens and get rid of a roo. I really want an incubator though!

I'm so glad I'm not alone!! I started with 5 silkie chicken and 1 old english last spring. Then my brother was moving so I took his 7 egg layer with a coop! I wanted more so to suck up to my dh I got 6 turkeys. He just loves wild ones so why not ones that stay in our yard ;). Then a chicken show was coming up. My girls needed good show quality for 4h. So out of there we left with a smooth and frizzle polishs and a lavender ameraucana. The next day my neighbours dog decided to come over and caped my (umm... my daughter's I mean) ameraucana. I couldn't give her a sick bird. So I found a breeder and same day brought home 2 ameraucanas. My dh saw a D'unncle and fell in love so I bought him 3 for being a wonderful husband. I was reading posts on here and saw a post for Muscovy ducks. I sold the idea to my dh by telling him they don't quack and are wonderful for meat. So I got 2. I didn't mention they have 4 clutches a year... oops... so we are up to 29 plus 50 meaties!!! He just rolls his eyes and smiles. I just got a incubator for Christmas... so we will have to test it out real soon. :D
