Is she setting them or are they just all in a nest box? If she's brooding, you can CAREFULLY candle them to see which ones are still viable. If she's not, I'd toss the bunch, give her a clean nest box and start over.Hi! My duck has been laying eggs for the past 2 weeks... For eating, I like to float test eggs in water first before cracking them open. If they sit on the bottom they are good and if they float they are starting to go bad and make gas.for hatching or eating?? if for hatching, I would candle remaining eggs and do a “smell” test at same time
if for eating, i would crack them separately and check for freshness before cooking and eating

If you choose to candle ... might I suggest doing it outside and wearing old clothes? You've already figured out how ... errrr .... ripe a rotten egg can be. My sympathies are officially extended!![]()

not necessarily, it sounds like you found the problem fairly quickly. i would give it a few more days and maybe candle again, but keep an eye on the remaining eggsFor hatching. She had 14 eggs in the nest. We got the blue ones out (they had gas in them) but we noticed it had been one busted as well. We candled the rest but they seem well. Would all be bad since one busted and the odor is lingering??
