Express vs. Priortity & USPS vs UPS

Thank you!! So express.....It better not take 3 days or Ill be throwing a serious hissy fit. How bout if we put layer crumbles at the bottom (instead of shavings) with apples & graps n such on top? If we put enough layer crumbles that could last him 3 days? Just in case? We also were talking about putting a note on the box that said If it is after such n such date n such n such time, you have permission to open the box & give the bird water after he is done drink please close up/tape up the box, making sure to leave air holes still, thank you....? i know probably wouldnt work. but itd make me feel better just in case...n they probably arent aloud to do that kind of stuff anyways....but i figure if they break the rules by throwing fragile stuff around they can break the rules & give my roo water? idk....im being paranoid now. also any idea as to my question about the weather?

I somehow can't imagine PO persolel opening a box to care for a chicken-not really part of their job description.
People ship birds express mail all the time & it seems to work out well.
I just had some birds arrive from Alabama. Don't know what the weather was like there when they left but it was right aroun zero when they got here. They were fine.

I can't imagine how panicked the usps people would get if they thought that they would have to fed the package!
when my chicks arrived at the PO at 5am they called panicked because they didn't know what to do will live mail

I know they probably wouldnt do anything & that its not in their job description, but I was hoping that maybe thered be an animal/chicken lover like me who would take pride in saving a life. Unfortunately, reality is that most people are heartless.

They were adult birds-3 pullets. Took 2 days.

Express mail can take up to 2 days from certain locations. If you call your post office with your shipping destinations, they will tell you if it should get there overnight or two days. I think there are special boxes for shipping adult birds. As to 'watering' your rooster, all I could see was some rooster running amuck inside of some post office~!!!

You should check with your local PO, ours here has let us know that they have changed the ruling on Live Animals ie: Birds, they now allow themselves 3 days and charge Express Prices, no guarantees for overnight and no refunds unless over 3 days.
