I’ve attached a couple photos of the coop that we have as well as where it’s currently placed. My chickens normally have free range but last year when I went back to work while they were out ranging around, we had way too many losses. Foxes, coyotes, and even neighboring domestic dogs.
I’d like to extend on that run and possibly have it covered. Giving them more room and protection until I get home from work and can let them out.
Suggestions? I’d like something that would hold up even in the winter as we get a lot of snow! 211” thus far this year.
My husband is pretty crafty, but he’s a busy guy so if there’s suggestions for something I can purchase that would be optimal.

I don’t have any answers, hopefully someone will see you. Sorry for your losses.

I did a quick search for covered runs. Most were chainlink and tarp like covers, which will not survive your snow loads. We have a covered run and then an additional non covered run that is connected. Seems like a handy hubby could tie on (or butt up) to the existing run fairly easily (said by the non builder person in our family, lol). Here is our covered run. The shed roof is quicker/easier to build than a gable.
