Hello,it seems as though the time change has affected not only myself but my birds.i heard them crowing when i got up at 5am.they usually dont crow til nearly 6.i do have neighbors and dont want to disturb them to early.i also feel bad that its getting dark earlier and light later in the morning,so they are locked up so long in the dark.i added 2 60 watt bulbs to the large coop and 1 to the small coop.do you think if i keep the lights on for them til 7 or 8 maybe that will put them back on schedule?opinions appreciated.
thanks...

I don't use extra light in my coop. I see no reason to mess with their natural cycles as long as I am getting all the eggs I can use, which I am.

If you are going to use extra light (which I do) it is best to turn it on in the am and then just let them go to bed when the sun goes down. Chickens have near zero sight in the dark so if they are milling around then all of the sudden the lights go out where will they be for the night ??

im not worried about egg production,i was just hoping to create their summer schedule so maybe they wouldnt crow an hour earlier because of my neighbors.
