we tried the Sulfam. stuffRX) from the Springtime... for three days. they were all laying around. Now Blakey seems to have devolped a MUSHY CROP and is standing up closing her eyes, bought that RA brand Gyno Lotrime. They only have the 1% stuff.

I don't know that I would use external yeast cream for inside the crop. I would try the RAW acv and some yogurt or something like that. Even raw garlic is said to have amazing antibacterial and anti fungal properties.

I wonder about doing an epsom salt flush (to help rid the body of whatever) and then reintroducing the probiotics and some electrolytes back into the system?

Seems like (and I'm anti DE, so just brain storming here) DE has clay in it that might help stop the runs. I guess I should ask if that's even still a problem?

I should have sent in those strange fleshy looking things in ONE older girls poo(which I posted a pic of here on this forum)
@ladyearth do you still have the photo of the strange fleshy things?

I'm very sorry your girls are sick again - have you noticed any bloat/swelling or feeling of fluid in the abdomen?

I don't know if making them vomit will clear the intestinal tract. I would think that might work above but not sure about below the crop/gizzard.

Interesting to see a bird vomit, since they actually don't have a gag reflex. They usually shake their head if they get something stuck.

Glad your hubby is good chicken dad! It's so much easier when we have help. :love

I wouldn't give any more medicines, including the clotrimazole (lotrimin.) It sounds like their guts are a bit sick. I would give them just probiotics (Probios) or a little plain yogurt daily in their food, to try and restore their gut bacteria to normal after all of the antibiotics. Tylan and sulfa are both antibiotics, and with Valbazen to worm them also, they are probably just having runny poops from that. A slow crop may be a result of whatever illness they have been suffering. Vomiting a chicken can be risky, and they can easily choke to death. You can make a mash of a lot of water added to some chicken feed, mix in a small amount of yogurt, and even some raw or chopped egg to get them eating and drinking.

Yes pics are on one of my cameras plus are they on this forum?

I agree with @Eggcessive sometimes an overload of too much medication can cause unwanted side effects. Seeing if the diarrhea will resolve itself by providing plain fresh food and water along with some probiotics may be in order.

I would be interested to see your photos - I don't see any - your mention of "fleshy things" in the poop makes me think of Salpingitis which is an inflammation of the oviduct. This is one of several reproductive/internal laying disorders that laying hens can suffer from.

When you examine your sickest girl - do you feel any swelling/bloat or feeling of fluid in the abdomen? Sometimes crop problems can be a symptom of an underlying condition - so I wander if your girl is suffering from something like Egg Yolk Peritontis, Ascites, cancer or tumors. These are fairly common in laying hens and there is not any real treatment except to offer supportive care.

I tend to agree with Wyorp Rock that you might have seen lash eggs. Here is some info on lash eggs from salpingitis and internal laying, just in case that is what the fleshy things were:

I agree with this and was thinking the same thing while I was mulling it over this morning after posting about a possible flush and probiotics.

I was thinking the diarrhea was already the birds own "flushing" of things... and building beneficial microbes is probably in order.
