I came downstaters yesterday and my quail was bleeding really bad from plucking so separated Dan from the coop. my mom and stepdad didn't anything to help it. And we confirmed that they ripped of skin and its showing what we think is the skull. I'm only 13 and i dont know what to do is the best thing to do to put it out of its misery? i feel really bad that its in pain and i don't want it to suffer if there's no hope
So sorry about your bird's injury. It is unfortunate that you don't feel you have more support and assistance from your parents as this is a lot to take on and it seems unfair to you and the bird - did you ask for their help and they refused or is it possible they are trying to respect this as being your bird/project and waiting for you to give the okay before they interfere?
If you can, take and post a photo of the wound so we can see what you are dealing with.
In the meantime, did you clean the wound? If the wound is kept clean and free of infection, and the bird is afforded a suitable place to recover (separated from the rest of the birds, kept safe from predation) with plenty of nutritious food and clean water you might be surprised at how resilient they can be and how quickly and fully they can recover from seemingly horrendous wounds.
You may also want to venture over to the quail section of the site - https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/48/quail - that way the folks reading about your bird and responding will be best able to address it as a quail specific situation and have the experience and knowledge to best help you and your bird.
Ol Grey Mare gave you very good advice and information. Please also make sure Dan is safe from flies. They love to lay eggs in wounds etc. The resulting maggots can cause much more damage than the original wound.
Believe me I know how it is. I had a dog when I was 11 - my sole responsibility. My parents didn't help at all - they expected me to know everything about dog care. We didn't have a' Backyard puppies,' or anything in those days. The only advice I could find was outdated (even then) old dog books saying to use products that were no longer on the market.
