Extremely large eggs and now dead hen

I'll do that tomorrow. I can slaughter chickens so it won't bother me. I love my chickens. They each have their own personality. It sucks when I lose one.

Take pictures of the Necropsy and we can help you figure out what is going on. I personally won't be any help, but I like to see pictures to learn what is what and how it happened!

I have hens laying brown eggs that won't fit into jumbo boxes and are covered in blood. They are either ISO Brown or Golden comets cause the eggs are brown. I also have Asian, Delaware and Red Leghorns. They are 9 months old so I figured the cause was first laying.View attachment 2469490View attachment 2469491View attachment 2469492

The first picture is a store bought jumbo egg and one the girls are laying.
Went out tonight to put the girls into the coop and found a dead hen with a very large vent. Can the eggs be killing the hens? No blood in the coop or on her.
I had bloody eggs earlier this year. I saw some blood running down one of my WLH and I caught her and found a proposed vent. Bloody eggs IMHO should have you checking vents for prolapse. Prolapse is easy to fix. Do you weight your eggs?

I also have 8 ducks in with them.
I'm just at a loss.

Any of the ducks male? I was just reading a thread about male ducks killing hens.. It could explain the blood.

Also I have isa browns and i notice when i treat them to protein rich treats one or two will lay double yolk big eggs.

I generally buy meat bird food and extra calcium supplements and feed all their shells back to them.

I will post an intro. I just had to point out the ducks being with them and the very last thread I read.

One strong writer, The ducks have been with then since the were just out of the brooder. They are 3 male Peking and 3 female Muscovy with 2 hatchling from the spring. They have grown up together.
Weeg, I do have to work tomorrow so I won't be able to do the exploratory till tomorrow evening as long as the hawks don't take off with it. Have a lot of redtail hawks around and I took the dead one out and placed it next to the coop.

Its about anatomy not aggression.. Chickens scissor.. Ducks go farther (in) and chickens aren't made to accommodate that.
