Nella's eye has a bit of a change. She's old - 7+ and has some issues where she can not walk for a couple of days very well. I believe she was vaccinated against Marek's so I'm doubting it's that.

Her other eye is perfect. This one does react to light and the pupil gets small if I shine a light on her.

Any thoughts? It's it just she related? I noticed the pigment changed a little last year but this is odd in that it is discoloured at the bottom of the eye. As far as I can tell, the pupil is still round.

Hard to know if the change is age related or if she may have something else going on.

If she's not having any difficulties right now, is active, eating/drinking, relatively active and doing her chickening thing, then I'd just monitor it.

Even if there's a marked change, which might indicate Marek's disease, there's really anything that can be done except offer supportive care if she begins to decline. If you lose her, then having a necropsy through your vet or a lab would give the results as to whether it's Marek's or not.

I have no idea what's wrong with your bird, but I just wanted to point out that being vaccinated for Marek's disease does not prevent the disease so it is still a possibility.

I didn't know that.

Thanks for the replies.

She's eating and drinking fine, but her mobility is variable. Usually a couple of days where she's very immobile, then a week or two where she's ok and just frail.

I'll keep an eye on her (no pun intended!) 😀
