Eye discharge

Can you try to remove the white object with a QTip? I guess it may be some exudate (pus) in the eye. Sometimes chickens will get debris in the eye, and that can create infection. Eye worms are pretty rare, more common in the tropics. What is your location? Can you upload a video of her walking to YouTube or Vimeo with a link posted here?
We considered using a Qtip, but were too afraid of jabbing her eye and damaging it, because she moves around too much. It was actually a challenge just to get this picture. Should we try anyway? Also, should we wet the Qtip first, if we do this? We are in Massachusetts. I’ll get a video of her doing the leg thing tomorrow.

I would try if you can get another person to hold the chicken’s head still. But don’t risk injuring the chicken.
We tried getting it out with a Qtip, but we couldn’t get it out. We also tried using a water flosser on a low setting, but we couldn’t get it out with that either.

This is the thing she does with her right leg. She probably does this about every 15 minutes or so.
