Hello my hen has had a eye Infection for a wk now. I have been using the little tube from tsc for eye infections. No real change, still very swollen, not much discharge. Should I also be giving Tylenol 50? How long does it take? Should I try something else? Help please !!!

Hello sorry to hear about your bird yes I would really recommend getting Taylan50 which you can find at tractor supply. I would give her it orally, 1/2cc to 1cc (depending on the size of your bird 1cc for a rather large chicken) a day for 3 to 4 days. And then see how she's doing. I would also suggest getting antibiotic polysporin eye drops(can find at a pharmency such as Walgreens), putting a few drops in each eye of the bird to prvent the spreading from one eye to another and to stop any kind of infection in the eye.

I give Tylan50 to any bird I notice sick or acting lathargic. For eye infections I do the same and usually notice a difference within the next day or two sometimes less.

For some reason, eye infections seem really common lately--I've had two in my own flock in the past few months, and have read about several more. The treatment that worked for me is Tylan200 given orally for 5-7 days. You could also use Tylan50; the dosage is just larger. If you are comfortable injecting the Tylan, that would be the quickest way to treat your bird. I gave mine orally because it was easier (I don't like giving injections).
