Bantam, 5 months old, separated from flock currently
++clear drainage and swelling in left eye presumably a pecking injury. I’m doing warm compresses and polysporin 2x/day for 4 days now with no improvement.
The right eye is also starting to look off.
Suggestions? Thanks!

Do you see any peck marks? To me, with bubbles in the eye, conjunctivitis, crusty eye drainage, and eyelid swelling, it looks more like a sinus infection possibly mycoplasma gallisepticum (MG.) Has there been any sneezing, bad odor from the face, or has the chicken been acting more sleepy? Tylosin, Tylan, and tetracyclines can treat symptoms of MG, but the chicken will be a carrier. Terramycin eye ointment can be used 2-3 times a day after rinsing the eye with saline.

No sneezing, odor or lethargy. She is frequently scratching at that left eye though which is probably contributing to the irritation. I have doxycycline 100mg capsules but I will look into the eye ointment. I’m in Canada so I may not be able to get ahold of any.
