this morning I was letting my chickens out and notice my mottled Orpington has something wrong with her eye. I sprayed some colloidal silver on it, that is always my go to. I don't see any signs of sickness but I've never dealt with a sick chicken. Help! What's going on with her?

What are the black marks around the eyes--peck marks or scabs? It looks like she has conjunctivitis or possibly just swelling in the eye from pecking. Conjunctivitis is caused by a respiratory infection and may cause swelling around the face or an eye, bubbles or foamy eye drainage, sneezing, and nasal drainage. Mycoplasma is one cause. Fowl pox can also cause an eye infection. But the black possible peck marks seem like it may just be trauma. I would watch it and let us know if she is having any of the above symptoms.

The black marks she has had. They are part of her speckled. I haven't notice any sign of of nasal drainage or sneezing. She does have some feather missing in the back of her neck now so maybe it is from another chicken. The eye is swollen more and she keeps it shut. When she opens it her eye is looking back. She hasn't been staying with the flock much this afternoon. I guess she needs to be quarantined?

Her eye looks more infected such as mycoplasma (MG.) Is there a bad odor around the eye? Antibiotics such as Tylan 50 injectable given 0.2 ml per pound twice a day for 5 days is helpful to reat symptoms of MG. Warm compresses to the eye to get drainage, crust, or removing pus with a QTip can be helpful. Terramycin eye ointment can be used in the eye a little dab twice a day also would be good,a s long as the drainage is out.

It doesn't smell at all. Is it something the other chickens can get?

Another disease called coryza can cause a bad odor, so it may not be that. MG is contagious. It usually causes other symptoms such as nasal drainage and sneezing, but not always. If it is MG, it can be common in backyard flocks, so your other chickens may already have been exposed by wild birds.
