Help one of our chickens is having issues with her eye. It looks like it's closed but you can still see her eye thru it.. her other one is open and fine but she moving slowly. And doesn't seem to be aware of things on the side with the weird eye. I'm not sure if that is her eyelid that's covering it or another layer of something but I have seen her open that side but it's mostly closed or with the covering on it. She is just kind of laying around. She is not aware of things on that side either. But her right side the good eye she is aware. She will get up and move.

It looks like her lower eyelid is covering the eye. Can you look inside her eye for any mucus, dirt, a seed, or other foreign body? She also could have been pecked around the eye. Saline eye drops or eye wash is good to flush out an eye. If there is any matter in there, I would get some Terramycin eye ointment from your feed store to use in it twice a day. If she develops any other symptoms such as drainage from her nostrils, gasping, sneezing, or wheezing, then the eye may be a result of a respiratory infection.

Thank you. I will try and rinse out her eye, she is one of our scaredy cat chickens. So I don't know if I will be able to get to her. Would she be okay, if I do not do anything if she won't let me hold her. And do I just wash water into her eye? to flush it out?
