I have 7 marans with this eye mucus or something gathering in the eye. There are other chickens of various breeds in the same cool with them and others separated only by a fence, but none of them have this. It does not run out of the eye, the eyes are not swollen or red, there is no sneezing, coughing or runny noses. Everyone is eating, drinking, running, jumping, perching, etc... as normal. I asked the breeder about it, she checked her flock and reported no signs of it. Any ideas?

They hatched in April. I brought them home in late may/early June and all has been well until this. It has been raining just about everyday here for weeks so the ground stays wet and/or muddy. They stay in a well ventalted coop at night and a covered, fenced run in the day with access to the coop. Let me know if you have any ideas. Tks.

In the first picture it looks like there are bubbles in the eye. Eye drainage, bubbles, foam, and crusts that form in and around an eye can be a sign of mycoplasma gallisepticum (MG.) MG is a chronic respiratory disease. You might want to keep an eye on them for any swelling of an eyelid or other respiratory symptoms, or any pecking of the eyes. If you want to get a few tested for MG, you may want to contact your county extension agent.
