Hi, wondering if anyone can help.

I have a silkie hen who i noticed had her eye shut a couple of days ago, there was no gunk and it wasnt swollen. She hasnt got any breathing problems or any gunk on her nostrils, her eye was just closed. Shes been fine and eating and drinking.
Ive been checking it the last couple of days and had been giving it a salt bath and some white stuff did come out when i wiped it however today its now swollen and looks like this-

There is something white in her eye not where the swollen part is but on the curve of the eye ball it looks like when you open the eye lids fully. If you can see closely in this photo, top of the eyeball you can see where the white stops and the eye ball (i think) carries on.

Ive googled the images and cant find anything similar.
After looking at some videos and threads on here i went to see if it was pus and could it be removed but it just seems like white stuff attached to the eye ball. I tried wiping, cotton buds (q tips) and even a blunt tweezers to get it but it seems to be the eye, if that makes sense. The swollen part of the eye (bottom part) doesnt have anything white underneath.

Im not sure what to do for the best first of all. Im in the uk and its sat night so no access to a vet right now. I did read on here from a uk person about an antibiotic eye ointment i could try but it sounds like some of the other things you have in america we dont have over here.

Should i continue to salt water wipes? any advice on what it could be?

thanks in advance for your help.

Have you tried applying gentle pressure at the rear corner of her eye? See what comes out. There is such a thing called eye worms. You should see these tiny slender worms when you put pressure above the eye.

If all that comes out is pus, you may be dealing with an eye infection. I would use a saline eye wash and flush the eye thoroughly. Then apply an antibiotic eye ointment. Any first aid wound ointment will work, too. Just be sure it doesn't have pain reliever in it.
