Eye Problem Worsening, I'm Getting Panicky**Update**

Well, we have a resolution of sorts. One of the 2 chicks died, so I was able to take him in for a necropsy. Conclusive results are not in yet, but I learned a few useful things. First, it was indeed a "him." Sad as I am to see any of them die, I'm glad it was a roo. Second, the pathologist raises chickens, and said that our outcomes would be alarming under regular circumstances, but, given the highly irregular circumstances of their hatching, there was no need to suspect anything virulent. Cultivations are being performed, but so far nothing contagious is showing up.

On the even brighter side, the one that we adored from the beginning is doing great. Her eyes are no longer swollen and infected, but I believe one is lost forever. The eye area has atrophied to an extreme. But, she eats, drinks, hops, plays and is gaining weight. After being orphaned as an egg, left cold all night, tossed in an incubator, with huge trouble hatching (she appeared to be dying during the protracted hatch so we assisted after 26 hours), and then battled the eye infection that killed her hatchmate, we're so happy that "Longshot" made it. An odd name, but it stuck!
