I have a hen that is 5 mos old. Two days ago I dusted my flock and today I discovered her eye swollen. Im wondering if i got the dust in her eye? Any thoughts or suggestions? So far I have flushed her eye with saline.

With what?

I doubt it's the dust but let me ask some more questions and tag a few helpful peeps.. @Wyorp Rock @azygous @Eggcessive TIA for looking and offering feed back if you have it!

How long have you had this flock, where did they come from, any recent new additions?

Is she still active and alert.. eating and drinking and staying with the flock? Or is she lethargic or withdrawn, feeling as awful as that looks?

Any sneezing, wheezing, bubbles in the eyes?

I have had something like this happen that was a known injury from a rooster fight. The dead white blood cells (puss) from fighting any infection at the wound site.. somehow don't stay that liquid and pliable (in chickens) or easy to drain but rather harden into a thick substance that needs/needed manual expression/removal/flushing/etc. I'm not sure if that had anything to do with MY timing of treatment OR saying this is that.. but sharing my single experience for consideration.

I see what looks like milkiness though I don't know what it indicates. Being in the US, applying a terramycin ointment MIGHT be helpful.

Hope you find some good answers and she has a rapid recovery! :fl
