how many birds do you have then??? Birds are really picky when it comes to something new being added to their water and will often refuse to drink it... give it in their beaks >>>three drops

11 older and 8 babys (in brooder but are sneezing) I cant get it in their beak I cant hold their head and open mouth and............cant catch thm either

wait until the evening as they are roosting... they are very easy to handle then.

I hope they start feeling better soon i still wish i knew what was wrong with em Im still scratching my head hope the new meds work keep me posted its not easy to give em meds but have hubby hold one and get the beak open even a childs eye dropper syringe would help too good luck and im sorry you have sick babies huggs bobbie

I hate to keep being the opposing side, but....you can try giving it in the water and they might drink it. Ours drank meds in the water, and didn't seem to notice anything. Don't know about baby vitamins...maybe they can taste those more. Ours are free range, so I don't think they're as picky about the taste of what they drink, as they sometimes drink from puddles. Personally, I think the stress involved with catching them, and etc, just makes things worse for them illness wise...especially if they are not used to being handled, and can't breathe well. We had to catch ours twice six weeks apart (in the dead of winter and in the cold early spring) to administer their ILT vaccine, and stuff to delouse them. We called up a few friends and had a chicken catching party. It was still a rodeo, but made it more fun that way. We caught them over a period of days, and just set up a few holding pens, til we had them all. We are set up same way; couldn't reach them at night. If you are able to catch em, if you can, put at least the worst ones in a small pen while you're treating em. This nightmare will not last...if you persevere, you'll probably come out on top. You might have to spend a few dollars, but it'll be oh so rewarding when you win. Just stay in touch, and we'll all help you. If you want to call the OSU vet clinic in Ohio, there's a poultry expert in the vet school there that'd help you over the phone...let me know if you want his name and number.

I got more meds today all the people i talked to today said to get it so we will see what works now can i put meds and the vits in water at same time If no i can only get the meds in them Someone will test BUT i have to cull one to do it and i dont think i can!!

Don't cull any yet. Chickens are really responsive to a little tlc...at least, ours always have been. Just remember though; if one dies you have to get it in for testing or a necropsy within twenty four hours, or not much more than that, anyway.

There has been a lot of good advice given here.
Personally, I would take a poop sample to a vet to start with and ask for a fecal float test. They can diagnose all sorts of things. Then I would look for an avian vet and take your worst case there.
I wouldn't wait any longer to get professional help now, since you can't do a lot of the things suggested.

I am going to close this thread, since it seems to have run itself out. Once you find out what is wrong with your birds, please let us know in a new thread.

Good luck.
