I have a silky born yesterday that has an eye barely opening. Eye was fine yesterday. This is one we had to help out w/ being born, but was doing fine. I started it on poly sol vitamins yesterday, one drop in afternoon, one drop this am. Drinking some from a dropper, eating some boiled yolk. She is under a lamp and it is right at 98 degrees inside, she is close to the lamp right now, but moves if she gets hot, then comes back. She appears quite healthy other than the eye.

I have washed the eye out thinking it was maybe glued shut, used warm water drops several time, from bottled water this opened it up some, but now it is closed again.

I have saline solution that I want to try next, the only other thing I have right now is lotemex solution for eye infections on humans. Can I use that. Will be looking in town later today to see if we can find terramycin ointment, but unsure if anyone here will carry it.

Thanks
Suggestions?

Thank you. I am ordering the terramycin online to get it started getting it here, but am still going to look in town for something for now. It looks like the other eye is starting now also.

Going to shoot for longs drug store, then walmart and will see what they have. Getting pedialite also.

Any thing else suggested?

She is in with two others, one other silkie born day before, and some type of mutty born Friday. The other two are doing extremely well. Unfortunately my hens gave up on them.

I found the terramycin ointment at one of the feed stores, the other two were out, so we were lucky, also did get some electrolytes.

So far so good. Eye is better and she is a lot more alert so I am hoping we are out of the woods.

Thanks for everyones help, I will post picks on the other board.
