Eye Worm, Marek's, Mycoplasma... Cannot figure this swollen eye out.

An update on my Chica, her swelling is almost completely gone. I did notice she had a small sore just below her lower eyelid. I am confident the swelling was from and injury or bug bite.
If they are a reputable hatchery they automatically vaccinate!!!
If he bought them from Joe Schmoe then they probably aren't vaccinated

I did want to comment on this--- hatcheries do not automatically vaccinate. Many do not want their chicks vaccinated. You need to CHOOSE to have them vaccinated and they usually charge around $0.10- $0.19 per bird. It is recommended that they are vaccinated within 24 hours of hatching.

Typically older birds (4+ weeks) from hatcheries are vaccinated but your best bet is to ask. Never assume they are vaccinated, it can be tricky to find on order forms or websites. In fact, Ideal's site says that they do not recommend the mareks vaccine for small flocks.

Good to hear she is recovering well!!!!

Regarding the hatcheries.
I have never ordered from a hatchery and had chicks shipped. I went locally to a farm/hatchery and these particular people automatically vaccinate. She says the reason for this is because there are other chickens in mine and her area alike that can transmit airborn diseases.
I am thankful that she did this since one of my pullets came down with Mareks after having her for 3 weeks. :( and my other two chickens were not affected.

It is good to know that some of these hatcheries don't vaccinate unless asked because I will not be ordering from them!!!! I will stick to my local farmer/hatchery.
Thanks for the info!!!!! :))))
