*Eyes Of The Phoenix* A Wild Chicken RP

Toad awoke, his body hurt all over, but his wattle hurt the most. It stung at every breathe he took. Beside him he saw Rose and on the other side he saw Fern.
Fern saw Toad’s eyes dart around. She knew who he was looking for.
“She’s with Jay and Snowberry. She’ll be right back.” She whispered to him.

Jay, Eerie and Snowberry made it back to the temporary camp just as the sun set. Rose and Fern set up a nest for Jay, and after Eerie had cleaned Jay’s wounds one more time, she left. Fern was still sitting with Jay.
Eerie made her way over to Toad’s nest.

Eerie stood outside Toad’s nest hollow. Should she go in? Was he awake? Would he have come to his senses by now and realized everything that had happened to him was hurt fault? Would he actually love her, now that he wasn’t fainting from blood loss? She scratched at the ground in indecision.

Toad moaned, his wattle accidentally got caught on a stray piece of thorn, his wound opened up again.

Eerie heard Toad cry in pain. Forgetting all her silliness, she rushed in. “Toad? Oh…stupid! Who left this BRAMBLE HERE?” She grumbled to herself. She dragged away the offending piece of plant matter.

Grabbing a piece of moss, she mopped up the new blood and then wrapped some soft leaves over his wattle so the wound wouldn’t open again. His eyes were closed…she should probably just let him sleep. He didn’t have to know she had been there. He just said all that stuff because he was delusional, she told herself. She should just go. She turned to leave.

"Wait." He whispered, slowly opening his eyes. "Stay with me, I don't want to be alone." He whispered in a small voice.

She turned around. Joy spread from the tips of her claws to her comb points. He wanted her to stay. He wanted her to stay!
“Okay.” She whispered, snuggling up beside him, sharing her warmth. “Goodnight, Toad. I love you.” She whispered.

"I love you too." He replied, warmth in his voice. He watched he as she fell asleep, then soon fell asleep alongside her.
