(Phew, ok.)(By the way: the chick is an albino. It’s just a coincidence that it hatched in the white egg. But Fern doesn’t know that.)
Fern stammered. “It-it’s-it’s so pale.” She showed Ruby. “It’s the wrong color. It’s got white feet. And I see white feathers, too. Oh, this is my fault. Something must be wrong with it!”"How is it looking?" She asked Fern.
Ruby scooted closer. "It's not your fault!"Fern stammered. “It-it’s-it’s so pale.” She showed Ruby. “It’s the wrong color. It’s got white feet. And I see white feathers, too. Oh, this is my fault. Something must be wrong with it!”
She looked at Eerie. "Eerie, is this fine? Is it normal?"The chick pushed out of the egg. Fern pulled it under her, panicking slightly. She rubbed it dry underneath her.
Eerie, who had been sleeping in the corner, looked closely at the now-dry chick. It was startlingly white. White feet, white fluff, white skin, white beak. It was as if all the color had been drained from it. Eerie gasped. And it had blue eyes, even paler than hers.Ruby scooted closer. "It's not your fault!"

"Could it be because it hatched from a wonky egg?" Ruby asked. She was happy it had hatched but hoped it was fine.Eerie, who had been sleeping in the corner, looked closely at the now-dry chick. Ruby nodded. "Did you hear about how one of Splash's chicks died while hatching?" She asked sadly. The chick peeped curiously. It was a little female. She looked around at the three hens with her strange silvery eyes. Fern hesitated, and then tucked her under her wing. “I don’t care if something is wrong with it. She’s my baby. If something is wrong with her, it’s my fault, which means I need to do my best to care for her.”
