Fang's mind started coming up with ideas, but she pushed them all down. Flapping down the tree as quietly as a hunting owl, she came behind the hen and whispered, "Did you ever killed somebody?" Then, not waiting for a reaction, she skittered back up the tree and watched.Cave started scratching the ground for food. She didn't know anyone else was around.
"So um, what did the hen look like?"She asked causally, trying to avoid the fact that one of the eggs had survived.Fern took a deep breath as her own egg passed. She rolled it underneath her. It’s creamy shell was glossier than the blue egg, and it had little speckles on the top. A fine job, she thought.
She looked back at the dumbfounded Sparrow.
Cave's beak dropped open. That was something she wasn't expecting. "Wha-?! Have I evah? I'm a chicken! Not a fox! I would nevah do such a thing!" Cave started clucking in shock.Fang's mind started coming up with ideas, but she pushed them all down. A little confused that that was her first question, Fern hesitated and then replied, “She was all black, with white earlobes and a pea comb. She was really torn up. Her feathers and blood were everywhere, and she had fox fur in her claws.” Fern shuddered at the memory of the hen’s blank yellow eyes."So um, what did the hen look like?"She asked causally, trying to avoid the fact that one of the eggs had survived.
