Fairy Eggs ? Why ?

She has likely come down with a disease like Newcastle or Infectious Bronchitis any one of which can settle in a hens reproduction organs and this can and does result in frequently laying soft shelled, deformed, or some other substandard egg like the ones you are receiving now. This is also where egg peritonitis and internal laying gets started because of either deformed or malformed organs that are unable to catch the yoke when it is produced. The problem with this hen is very, very unlikely to be age linked.

And the very first one had a huge mass of gunky stuff surrounding it, almost like a soft shell egg that had broken open and covered part of the tiny egg.
Did you get a pic of that one?
Do the tiny eggs have yolks in them?

Unfortunately I did not get a pic of the first egg. I assumed it was just a fluke.

I cracked open this new egg last night and there was no yolk in it.

Ok so for the past few days everything has returned back to normal. She started laying regular eggs again, but then today, this.... What in the world? :idunno

Girls got issues for sure.
