Fake trees

Has anyone put fake trees in their chick's run? Ours looks a little boring. Was thinking it could give shade, hiding, roosting space and some security.

I would not, mainly because the birds might eat parts of it, whether it's plastic, cloth, foam, etc.

If you don't want to plant a tree in the run, you could try pots or planters with smaller trees or shrubs?
