Fall 2008 Coop Page Contest - Ended

Pulletpimp, Your chicken house (I refuse to call it a coop) is fantastic and the windows are just beautiful. I love that you made them... now they are more old-fashioned looking and probably a lot better quality. I also love the two roof lines. It really reminds me of a cabin and the surroundings....ok, I need to pull it together.
I am the competition...got my eye on you.

Msbear - how in heaven's name did you talk your DH into not one, not two but THREE coops? I think mine would LEAVE ME. Your coops are some of my very favorite on BYC. I especially love the floor to ceiling windows on your wagon coop. Awesome.

haaahahah, It has been an ongoing quest. I start off slowly and start mentioning getting two or three more birds, then maybe we should build another coop? so I can keep the varieties separate? then draft up a design then offer to cook all kinds of meat on the grill when we have coop day

-make it a fun thing....heck, I'll even go buy a case of beer and you can invite some friends to come and help

Before he knows it, he's asking me where I want it and how big should he make it

I love all my little coops. We don't have the land for a big one....But just today my Dad, who has a big farm in Md, asked how long it's going to be til I build a big barn on the farm....now the wheels are turnin!!

I have two more windows that matched the ones in my cart coop. They are going in my new one...so they sorta match eachother

Thanks Msbear, I'm so happy you thought of cabin when you saw it cause that is the look I was trying to go for. I still plan on adding some trim and "gingerbread" to the outside next spring before I paint it. Still adding some detais as I go along.

Oddly enough your Corrolla coop was the inspiration for my interior color scheme. Thanks

PP, There is an old school house back in the woods near my house. It's pretty delapidated but still a great example of craftsmanship and it's gingerbread molding under the eaves really made it look top notch. I was waiting for Hansel and Gretel to come out of it at any moment!

I would love to move that old building to my dad's farm.

hmmm

You did a fine job with all the woodwork and I can tell you know what you are doing. I wanted to to our trusses for my current coop like yours. The long 2x6? summer beam? but ours isn't big enough to need it.

I should have my page done tonight. We haven't had a chance to attach the run....the wind is biting our faces out there but I think I can still enter the coop.

Urbanmama, you did an excellent job

You should be very proud of yourself.

I just draw it up and stand there barking orders. No seriously, I pick out the windows and what side of the board is the prettiest

Here's mine....The Cochin Duplex is my new breeder coop. It will be flanked with runs on both sides -each with metal roofing. I think the runs will give this coop the finished look. I'll upoad completed photos when it's done...HOPEFULLY this weekend..
