Hi everyone, with today being the first day of fall, I can't help but wonder If there's anything in particular I should do for my girls. In the winter the overnight lows can get as low as the 20's and during the day it can be in the 40's. This will be my first winter with my girls so I really don't know what to do.

Thanks in advance.

Hi, I'm in southern Oregon, we have close to the same climate! Our area is very bird friendly and you really don't need to do anything special. Temps don't get extreme here. The birds just need to have a place to get out of the wind and rain and that's it. I don't heat the coop, or really do anything else. I carry a pitcher of heated water out twice a day at least, to thaw the water in the black tub, that's about it.

Folks keep chickens in Canada and Alaska without heat, so we're golden here!
