I finally have blanket success! All it took was a weekend without plans, a couple crockpot meals, and allowing myself to get just a little bit behind in the housework.

I have to say that I love the finished product! I made 3 extra squares and went 4 x 5 with a couple rows of brown around the edging and a final row of gold. It's perfect. I love every square!

I intended to donate the blanket, but I love it so much I think I want to keep it. Does that make me selfish? I have made tons of afghans, but never kept one for myself...

I have enough yarn left for another afghan.....I will make THAT one for charity......I will start this week.... Hmm, yes, now I feel better about snuggling up in this one....

LOVE how it turned out!!!! Can't wait to get mine together, and no I do not think it makes you selfish at all to keep this one for yourself.

Kassaundra, I've been thinking about your crochet projects that you are "quilting" with backing...

Did you ever finish those? I want to do something like that with my blocks from this swap but I'm not really very sure how to go about it. I'd like to see some pictures if you have some and its finished?

I have only finished the one the pics on the summer swap thread.

Sorry for the short answer earlier, I didn't have time for any more. I piece the blocks individually and zig zag or fancy stitch over each seam (to reduce fraying and make stronger seams) instead of pressing open I press to one side and stitch. I make the fabric square bigger then the crocheted square so I can put borders on the crocheted side, but you could do roughly the same size, just allow for a seam allowance and just join the crocheted squares w/o a border. I quilt each square individually before they are joined w/ yarn and a yarn needle through both crocheted a fabric squares, then join rows first when all rows are together sew the rows to each other, if done that way you only ever have the width of on square under your machine at a time. hope that makes sense.

It's beautiful. Snuggle away. You can use an afghan as well as anyone else.

Thanks, but I can only take a tiny bit of credit since I only made a few of the squares! Teamwork made this possible!
I love my blanket!
