It’s nice they had a dry place to hang out, mine go in the wood shed when we have snow or ice.
Yes, it's worked out really well for the birds. It used to be a wasted space of the yard because it's not really tall enough to use for anything, but the birds take full advantage for cover from the elements.

Proud Ducks won't go inside due to bad weather!
That would be totally against their stubborness!
Of course if that humon comes out and begs us to go in, bribing us with some treats…
We may or may not go inside. We'd rather be eaten by a raccoon!
:he :lau

I can't believe they have enough manners to wait for you to offer the treat can!! Mine would have the thing knocked over and emptied before I made it back to the porch!

Aww, little limpy! I could just scoop him up and kiss his little face! Does the cold weather make his limp worse?
You have no idea! - I really need to film the evening routine once, this is what happens after it got dark outside:
  1. Duckies are all hanging out around the patio screen-door, loudly discussing the matter of supper.
  2. One or two impatient ducks climbing up the stairs to the patio loudly demanding food. Usually this task is performed by Olivia Duck and/or Maggie Duck.
  3. Humon comes out of the house and asks "Wollt ihr euer Abendessen?" [Do you want your dinner?]
  4. Ducks answer "QUAAAAAK QUACK QUAK WAK-WACK!!!" [What do you think we're waiting for, DUMMY!!!]
  5. Dummy aka Humon grabs supper-bowl (long planter) and dumps three spoons of cat-food and one large scoop of BOSS inside.
  6. Dummy aka Humon takes supper-bowl (long planter) inside the house and fills it up with yummy green stuff (Fodder or cabbage).
  7. Dummy aka Humon comes back out and sprinkles three spoons of cat-food on top of the greenery.
  8. Dummy aka Humon stuffs his non-webbed feet into rubber boots (Ducks ask themselves how somebody can survive with non webbed feet).
  9. Dummy aka Humon takes the supper bowl (long planter), opens the patio-door and walks down the steps on his weird rubber feet without webs.
  10. Dummy aka Humon lowers the supper bowl (long planter) down so that his duck-masters can inspect and taste their dinner.
  11. Dummy aka Humon is raising the supper-bowl (long planter) and says "Alle Enten gehen jetzt schlafen!" [All ducks go to sleep now!] (Ducks understand: Would the proud duck folks please have the mercy to walk into their house!)
  12. If the dinner is really tasty (Oats, red-cabbage, wheat-grass) Dummy aka Humon is allowed to carry Blanca Duck inside the supper-bowl into the duck-house, while she is stuffing herself.
  13. If the supper is really, really good, Dummy aka Humon, is graciously allowed to carry Blanca and Bazilla Duck to their palace.
  14. Dummy aka Humon sets down supper bowl (long planter) down inside the duck palace and steps aside, so that all aristoducks can walk into their home, upright and proud.
  15. Dummy aka Humon says something like "Gute Nacht ihr lieben Enten, schlaft gut!" [Good night dear ducks, sleep well!] which is usually drowned by the sounds made by 29 ducks gobbling down their dinner.
  16. Dummy aka Humon is release from duck-duty for the day and walks back to the Humon Coop.
I just need both hands to handle that long planter, and i don't have a third one for the phone…

Oh boy! He would be scared that you want to stuff another pill down his throat and would bit into your nose if you'd try that! ;)
And yes, he hates the cold! - The same way as i do.
It makes his limp worse and my ankle hurt and he cannot relax the legs in the pool because Dummy (Humon) has drained the water. :(
