I have a barnyard banty mix sitting on 3 barnyard crosses and a big white dunno what egg she swiped from somewhere 2 days or so later. I gave 'em to her to sit late afternoon on the 10th. I'm hoping she'll wait for the late white egg to hatch before abandoning the nest. I think my son's father is playing tricks on me with that egg.

He knows I want Jersey Giants, don't they lay brown eggs tho?? This egg looks big compared to my banty eggs. I suppose it's really only large, could it be a JG?

Anyway, look forward to pictures of everyone's chicks!

I hear ya!! I had a shipment that was shipped on a Saturday and I didn't get till Thursday. I was worried about those but I candled last night and it seems like at least 5 out of 12 are growing!! I'll take that!!

Ha Ha that's cute!! I have to use LOTS of will power not to hatch so much. I have 3 seperate coops and runs and for now that's it till we build my new one which will be one large coop seperated into 5 seperate sections with runs!! But geez that could take a few years!

THAT is exactly what I want! 1 BIG coop with 5-6 runs coming off it. Seems like it would be less work and I can have more chickensn!! We have the room and most of the materials. Now that the weather is cooler, hubby may be more inclined to work outside. Were in FL so it was too hot in the summer to do this. I just may have it by Dec if I play my cards right. Babies are in the house for now, so if I can get enough cheep cheeps, it may drive him outside LOL!! I still need therapy though

I set 18 Turken eggs on the 11th and a week later 11 White Leghorn eggs on the 18th. These are all shipped eggs. I candled one Turken egg a day or two ago, saw what looked like an embryo

, freaked out and put it back and didn't candle anymore. I have a tendency to be a little nerotic about eggs so I'm taking a hands off approach this time so as not to make myself crazy. If I let myself I'd candle every egg every day worrying and wondering! Well that may be an exaggeration but... I have them in a Hovabator 2362n w/turner. Holds temp and humidity great, better than I expected. Plan to use Brinsea Octo20 as a hatcher when the time comes. Good luck everyone with your hatches!
