Oh yea you ordered the same Turken auction as me, but I'm still waiting on mine & it's driving me crazy! I was 2-3 orders behind you so it'll be nice to hear from someone else who ordered the same eggs I did only earlier! I'm so excited to get them, what color eggs do the Turkans lay? I'm the same way, my first several hatches I swear I candled literatly E V E R Y day lol, it's so hard not to! Mine are in a Little Giant 9200 so I self turn them, which makes it that much harder to resist candling (=

I won't candle again till next week till around day 14 or 15 since it's a staggered hatch. At that time I'll remove the clear ones out!! I'm ready to see what I'll get. As it looks now out of 25 eggs I should have about 15 - 17 making it to lockdown!!

17 from 25, can't complain there! I've got a staggered hatch to with 3 different species that were put in at 4 different times so hopefully everything goes well. My 4 silkie/showgirl eggs are on day 10, my 18 Turken eggs just came today & are being settled, my 70+ Tibetan quail eggs will be here in the next 2 days, then my 4+ Chinese geese eggs are being shipped to me tomorrow (=

I have a question?? What would you use the Brinsea as a hatcher and not the Hovabator??

All my eggs wont fit in the Octo, it's kinda small... I really like my Hovabator, the temp and humidity stay solid. Both my incubators have turners which is nice but the Hovabator holds more than twice the Octo. Because my eggs hatch dates are staggered it makes sense to use the hovabator for days 1-18 and when hatching time rolls around put the eggs that are ready into the Octo to hatch. By the time the chicks are out should be time for the next batch to move into the Octo. I think I'll be getting 2 more batches of eggs soon as well so I'll keep doing the same. If I had a small batch of eggs I'd probably do the reverse. Start them in the Octo and hatch in the Hovabator to give them room.

I'm pretty sure my Turken eggs are developing. Like I said, I haven't checked them all... Maybe I will... I just candled some eggs. A couple Turken eggs look porus and empty, I saw one blood ring, a few I couldn't tell what was going on, a few I saw big chick eyes and them kicking around like a party inside the egg! So day 11 on the Turken eggs, I'm sure I got some live ones.

I'll candle once more in a week before I put them into lockdown. My White Leghorn eggs are a week behind so I'll candle them in a week as well on day 11 when I take out the Turken eggs. I'm getting a dozen California Grey Leghorn hatching eggs soon and hoping to get a few nice blue Wheaten Ameracauna eggs as well. Staggered hatching is fun! Always something to look forward to. I'll be happy with just one goofy little Turken. The chicks are hillarious! Good luck with yours!

I got my Turken eggs yesterday & after candling them almost all of them are porous but all arrived in great shape with intact aircells for the most part. I was going to ask, did you get any eggs that were noticeably larger than the rest? All 3 cartons of 6 eggs contained one really big egg & I wondered if you did to? Kind of curious how they'll turn out & to see what they are if not turkens, I think the seller did a great job packing them. I agree turkens are the cutest & for the price I too will just be happy with one Turken chick, they're so darn cute!

Also barred babies, I have 2 incubators so I use one as a hatcher like ceilo & I agree with him, it's really fun to always be looking forward to something (=

Wasn't even thinking about the amount of eggs you had before I asked that question!! I just know that it get's awfully tight in that eco!! But I love it still!!

Oh I hear ya!! I did that in the Spring. I have an aquarium incubator I was using as a hatcher since I had 3 staggered hatches going on. Since these that I have in there now are so close together I think I'm just going to go to lockdown on day 19 for the first set and 17 on the second since there only 2 days apart!!

Wish everyone loads of luck with there hatch!!

ETA: Well, looks like I'll be pulling that aquarium bator out anyway!! Will be hathcing some eggs for a fellow BYC'er if he wins a auction!!
