I'm not sure how well they will lay. Their still pretty young and so far I'm only getting an egg here & there! So I will be able to tell more come spring. I've heard they have great personalities, I'm not a pick your chicken up kinda person so they usually run when I go in the run.

That makes a big difference on how they act of course. They are def a dual purpose bird. The roosters get huge and the hens are pretty good sized also. Compare them to my hatchery birds that I use for my eating eggs and they were so much bigger than them at 5 months it wasn't even funny!!

Yes it will candle a blue egg, I can see pretty good with a very dark marans egg!!

Well, I got my aquarium bator out cause I thought I was going to set those eggs for a friend and since I had it out I decided to go ahead and put some more Golden Cuckoo Marans in there last night and threw one SS in there for GP... SO.... That's 11 and if I go home and have anymore will set them in there too!!

I have a question for ya'll.. If your bator leans more towards cooler or hotter which one would you rather?? A little cool than 99.5 or a little hotter??

Also Cielo, I candled my Turken eggs today & there's 16 out of 18 developing, I couldn't believe it with shipped eggs! But then again you have like 14 out of 18 going in lockdown Saturday right?

Yep just talking about a degre or 2. Now I probably fried all the eggs I had in there cause I forgot to turn on the ac in my shop and when I got home it was 111.

But I'm going to be optimistic and keep them in there for at least a week till I'm positive that I screwed up. I've been gathering eggs from my Golden Cuckoos for a few days and decided to set them!!

Don't tell my hubby but I'm wanting to buy me another Brinsea!!

I'm going to put my other ones on lockdown Saturday. I might candle them tomorrow just for S&G's... You know what's amazing when you pick one up and you feel how much heavier they are. So cool!

Oh no! I hate that happened

but if it didn't last too long then I'm sure there's a good chance they'll be ok. I had a temp spike to 115 3 different times & still had a decent hatch so there's hope! I live hatching, especially when I have several different types, it's so exciting! It looks like this thread is going to continue longer than just the first hatch date since we both just set some eggs, it's fun having hatching buddies. After candling my 4 eggs I'm pretty sure I have atleast 3 moving & I'm hoping the 4th was just asleep. I'd love to have a brinsea 20 Eco but I'm not sure if I'll get that or the reptipro 5000, the brinsea is a better bator but the reptipro holds more...
