So we are contacting insurance etc...they are talking nearly 4 grand to fix it all! I am bummed. 40 here this morning and 30s predicted for tonight...guess I will get out the down comforter....next best thing to a fire in the stove! Terri O

About two weeks ago we were having 99-degree temps, but tonight we are expecting below normal around 40 degrees! Woo-Hoo! Fall is officially here, my favorite time of year.

Its my favorite time of year too. I just wish we'd get all those beautiful fall colors and a little more cooler weather! I'd be in heaven for sure!

Steve, we have a soapstone woodstove and we really enjoy it. It keeps our house nice and warm. And, I really enjoy Lehmans. If you get a chance to go to their store it is amazing.

You can spend days in the Lehmans store and not see the same thing twice no kidding!! I love that place. We have used a Buck woodstove for 25 years and it's still going strong. It's what we use Fall and Winter for heat and our gas furnace is just a back up for night time when the temps dip in the teens. We keep quite a few years supply of hardwood ahead just for our stove.

Only 50 and misty rain here today so yes the stove is putting out some heat! I know it has to be spitting some snow at our cabin!!! Brrr.......

Funny to read this thread...we lit our gas Jotel stove last night and toasted for a while before bedtime. No surprise, it's burning again tonight! We've had temps drop into the 60's day and 30's night, and can hardly believe the cool after this summer's humidity and heat. Roof was white with frost this morning. Pumpkin time and all that:) I'll have to start cooking oatmeal for the hens' breakfasts if this continues. ~G

We use a 1920s model cookstove. Not ready to fire it up quite yet. We'll probably start with a bit of a bonfire and clean up everything 'scrap' from summer projects, garden debris, etc.
