Fall Quilt Block Swap due October 15th

Its as bad as chicken math, the more the merrier. If we weren't supposed to have a mini store they wouldn't make so much, and I remind my DH they are like his tools he can't have too many, and these things are my tools.

Yes but w/ fabric math the neighbors aren't standing on a ladder w/ binoculars counting the bins of fabric under your bed, to report you to the fabric police. lol

RustyHen, did you hear that?????

Going to a tent sale toorrow, they will have good fabric for, ARE YOU READY......................... $4.25 a yd. They are having a 50% sale on fabric and 20% off of everything else...

YEA ME. You can all come with me if you want.

Maybe you could take your cell phone with you and when you find something someone may want, take a pic and send it and buy it for us. Then we'd repay you of course.

That is the best thing I have heard yet!!!! see you need to give us more notice, we could have sent you money with a finders fee and you could have shopped for us, I need pinks, creams for the next swap!!! oh well next time!!!!

Thread for thought: here is a pic of a quilt (picked it up at the farmers market) what if we do an easy block the log cabin in the pinks, creams and greens, I believe that was the color scheme. We will be able to do these quickly as it will be getting into the holidays and we will be busy, and the time frame will be shorter for when the blocks are due.
Tell me what you think,

What if we make this a two block swap, see the block to the right that is strips, what if we do the log cabin and the strip block with it? Don't know if that block has a name. Or we could do 8 for the log cabin and 8 of the strip block Just thinking out loud.

Ladies,

I need tips on how to do the mitered corners, I stop a 1/4 from the edge and fold the binding but I still don't get nice corners, matter of fact they don't end up mitered at all. how far do you stop from the edge and what size binding do you use (does that matter?)

Here is the jean rag quilt I made for my husband to take over the road, to grandma's house, no just kidding, hidden meaning there, over the road in England means to go visit the neighbors, and as you know my husband has just gone back over the road driving long haul, so he is a long distant lorry driver. Note to self when washing for the first time take to the laundry mat, didn't think about all the little strings but I did take it there to dry it, but it ragged out good for a first wash some places still need a little help. I did incorporate a couple of pockets. Now to get more jeans to make one for my son to put in his car.

I don't know if I can explain this without pictures but I will try.

Mitred corners: When you get to the end of your run, do as you have been doing, stop at just over 1/4 inch from the end, backstitch to lock. Fold your binding 90 degrees up and then at the top edge of your quilt, fold it back down over the previous fold. When you resume sewing, start at the top edge of your quilt....

I'll try to set up some pictures to help you out with this.

I'll be back.

I took my fusion blanket to work w/ me and can't believe I actually had time to work on it. I now have all the rows sewn together, next step is crocheting the borders on the crocheted side. The crocheted side are the blocks from this past fall block swap, and the quilted side are some kalidieoscope blocks I made, alternating w/ big "X"s I really like how this one is turning out.
