Fall Quilt Block Swap due October 15th

majack and Cknldy, Thank you for the mushrooms and fungi pics and discussion.
I have always been very interested in this topic myself. The only mushrooms we have ever collected and eaten are Morels, very easy to identify. I have lived on the Oregon coast with 110 inches of rain yearly. and in the Rouge valley, a place with Oak, Madrona and Fir and Pine, about 60 of rain a year and now the Oregon High Desert with about 12" a year and mostly Sage Brush and Cottonwood trees. The variety of mushrooms, fungi never fails to surprise me that can survive even here.

Thanks for the info it was interesting to look up these fungi.

Ladies I am waiting on one set so when I received it I will sort and ship hopefully Friday, but will let you all know and will post tracking numbers by zip code.

We do see a lot of the puffballs but only see the flower looking beautiful phase on the ground under pine trees near a very old house. It is always shady and groundcover is plentiful. I read your post majack and it hit me to google image it. It is actually Indian Pipe- image almost identical to some of the websites! It would be a huge delight to find some earthstars though:)

Hi, England calling!

The hurricane has done lots of damage in the south and people have been killed. Mostly it's damage to houses and loss of power. The trains are out due to trees on the line and lack of power which is a big problem as thousands and thousands of people commute to work by train in the south. Lincolnshire is ok. Today I had to go to see if my Dad was OK. I couldn't get him on the phone last night and this morning. I assumed the worst as he had a fall in his house a fortnight ago and I had to call the police to break in. He is so much more fragile than he used to be. He lives about 2 1/2 hours away from me. So I drove over there in driving rain and very bad visibility. I got there and got all the keys out to open the doors. I rang the doorbell first then I got into the porch. I had a choice of three keys to get through the main door. Just as I found the right key the door opened. There was my dad stark naked except for towel around his waist. I nearly jumped out of my skin. He really scared me. When he asked why, I had to explain that I thought he was dead. Thank goodness he was alright. So I let him get dressed and took him out to brunch. I am back home now but I'm very very tired. Hopefully I've sorted out his phone. We can both see the funny side now!

I know what you are going thru majack, my Mom is 89 now and one day she will tell me she needs a walker now and the next day she says no way and drives off in her car... What can you do.
I'm so glad you and yours are safe, I'm sorry for the loss of life. We humans always think we are in control then Mother Nature sets us right.
