Falling down and getting trampled! :( ***CURE****

Me too, always a need for more info. Glad to hear you found the cure, but please share how and what the treatment was. Did you do the ear drops, the hair dryer or both? Thanks!

Well at the farm our magical chicken man Mike told us magical things. And they made sense! Also she was kind of turning her head around a lot. She lost her balance a lot, and he had seen it a lot in chickens before. He recognized it immediately. Also we were kind of tapping the side of her head and something came out of one of her ears! That's an obvious sign, eh? Well Mike said the hairdryer would work if you were sure it was a liquid, and I did use the ear drops and she suddenly had half her balance back. Now she can go 3 steps without falling instead of 1! lol So if any of your chickens ever fall over constantly, turn their heads around, and you don't see any swelling, bruising, or blood, suspect the ears and take a look. It's so good to be able to drive ten minutes and know the answer to all your animal problems in 10 minutes.
ps. He even told me why my rabbit died! Apparently rabbit syphilis is going around- causes bleeding, hair loss, and acting like a doofus (eats through brain)

Thats so cool to have someone within 10min. to help you with your chicken problems. Glad to hear she's better. Never thought much about chickens having ear problems, Also sorry about your rabbit, another new one on me. Thanks for sharing ...

I had a dog who had allergies.. She constantly struggled with ear infections. One day she because extremely wobbly and couldn't really walk. I was scared to death. To help combat her allergies we fed her a raw diet and there was some stupid parasite I read about that came from raw meat and caused balance issues. That made me feel horrible. I also thought she may have had a seizure that messed her up, or a stroke.

What it came down to was my noticing that she would try to gently shake her head.. Turned out to be an inner ear infection, I cured it with garlic infused olive oil.

Blue-kote is great for outer ear infections, but the garlic oil really sinks in deep for the inner ear.

yeah, if it were infected, then i'd be very very concerned. but today she is walking around without falling, but when she stops she takes steps back or falls on her butt. Better than yesterday which was when she couldn't walk or run or stand, just fall. I massaged her ear again. She liked it

lol. but Mike also grabbed the bottom of her beak to have her mouth open while he massaged both ears because the liquids in the ear drain to the mouth. (EWWWWW) So basically it looked like a chicken with her mouth wide open, eyes closed, and ears being massaged, lol!
