False Calls?

I'm in the process of finding out which hens have started to lay. Anytime I hear the "I layed an egg" song I go out to see who is singing and grab the egg. Lately I have had 3 hens sing but then there is no egg in the nest. This is not just my new gals either as one of my old girls did it today. Whats going on? Any advice?

My birds do a group egg song every time someone lays an egg. And sometimes one bird will do a song randomly without laying. (I just tell her she just likes to hear herself singing)

My chickens do it too- I am beginning to think it's an angry song because they do it so much.
