Family to loose pet goat

LOL It was all my 11 year old Grandaughters determination and dedication to the little goat that got her so well trained.
I have tolaugh the lady she is with now gets a kick out of her not wanting to potty in the stall, she is still asking to be taken out to potty.

Every day I learn something new. Pretty soon my little brain is gonna explode from an overload of useless information (goats can get rabies - when, in my lifetime, will I ever need to use that information?)

With all we learn on this site, One can never tell when such a usefull tidbit of information will come in handy.

My head exploded years ago , it just makes room for more important information.

I am amazed you can housetrain a goat.

I had a pet goat in 4H and didnt realize they were disease carriers either. Wonder if they only carry disease when you smoke pot...

cows can get rabbies, usually from grazing around the pasture and getting scratched by a skunk or coon they come across and scare.

That's so sad, for the little girl and the goat. Rules are a real drag sometimes. We had a goat for a little while that my 6 year old got real attached to. He followed her everywhere. When she came inside he would put his feet up on the front picture window. I couldn't keep him fenced in without a lot of expense and I figured if he was fixed in the interest level would go down, so we gave him to a person that bought our horse as a companion to the horse. My little girl still ask's about him.

Thats the kicker, there are NO rules about keeping live stock in your home especially when they are babies.
I asked the state vet and the rescue league about it and they said in NH it doesnt matter what you have in your home as long as it is well cared for clean and happy,.
it was all the Health inspector with her knickers in a bunch. out of all 10 people here that day she was the only one who had a complaint about the goat. go figure

i would tell them to come back with a warrant and swat if they wanted to take a pet of mine. then i would call the media - i would borrow a small child from a neighbor - (mine are teens and would not get any sympathy) - and have the child cry about them taking the goat. seriously, though, the only thing i was kidding (no pun intended) about was borrowing the child, the rest.....well just try me i say. my dh dreads anything like this happening to me or anyone i know - he is in law enforcement so..need i say more. he says "why cant ya just do what people tell you the rules say to do" and i say "show me the rules in writing" and if all else fails then "show me who is being hurt or violated in any way by my possessing a goat, chicken, etc." then i go on my "this is america" rant. these people were not being accused of animal cruelty or creating unsanitary conditions - they need to attract more media attention and see if they can find an attorney with a soft spot for animals. i wish them luck!!!
