Well my first hatch has not went very good. It hasn't went well at all acutally. I have an lg with auto egg turner. I am thinking on getting a fan to see if this will help. What are your thoughs on a fan? Is it better?

It made a huge difference in my cheapo 1602N Hovabator(exact same, in my opinion as LG). After a 0% hatch rate the first try and I am currently working on almost 100%. I added the fan and the auto turner for the second attempt. The fan stabilizes everything. No Temp or Humidity swings. It all stabilizes. I bought a pc fan from radio shack and hooked it up. I would definitely recommend it. Any question pm me.

I am using 2 LG incubators, if your using a digital thermometer and hygrometer I have notice and this is just in my experience they go crazy some times.
I went to walmart got 2 fish aquarium thermometers , these have given me more accurate readings than any digital thermometer I still use my digital to measure humidity as well as a smaller one that has arms like a clock not sure of the name but you can get it for like 1.00 at walmart.

I got a 100 % hatch rate doing it this way.

Don't forget to calibrate the thermometers a few people may think this isnt important but it is very important or you will get way off readings.
When you think your incubator is too hot it could very well be too low, when you think its too low and you turn it up it could very well be too High.

Calibrate,

Humidity is extremely important or to me it is , I will always hatch at 75 % from now on all my other hatches got stuck and I only went up to 55 - 65 %

At 75 % they come out perfect and zip perfect circles all the way around.

LG Incubators are very sensitive, any amount of turning can be either way to much or way to little, find your mark and leave it there but keep your room as level as you can in temperature. They are sensitive to outside temperatures also.

I would invest in a fan it does seem to level out the heat a lot better.

Good luck!

I intalled a small fan to the lid of LG. Ran the wires out the top hole. It really stablized the entire bator excepting the 4" X 4" area directly below the fan where temps are 3 degrees higher. Fans are cheap, purchased mine via EBay for $4.05 including shipping. Just make sure it's coming from USA not China or it takes months to arrive, do an advanced search using distance from you.

Rumage through your junk draw for a 12 V charger, cut the end off and rewire to fan using electrical tape.

I found a fan on eBay and installed it 8 days into my first incubation. It leveled the temps out nicely; I installed it backwards so that it blows up at the top of the bator, not down on the eggs. I got a 66% hatch rate on shipped eggs, and it was my first incubation. I was actually a little disappointed, but I know my results were better than average so I keep reminding myself that. Fill the bottom of the LG with aquarium rocks (leave the vent holes clear), and make sure it's in a room where the temp is steady around 70.

Thanks everyone for the advice. I know nothing about wiring an all that so I was just going to pick up a fan that is made to go in an lg. Also My bator is in my laundry room and that is were the back door is also....i did have a little bit of issuses with temp, but i was alway right on it. So maybe this next time around i will have to find a better place for it. I have a digital thermometer/hygrometer and also the thermometer that came with the bator. The digital one about drove me crazy. I got one with a probe and just put the probe in the bator.........i didn't know any better. My humidity was crazy (or so i thought) it always said "low" i added water every other day. Then one day i figured out that the whole thing had to be inside the bator to register the humidty! (man did i feel stupid)!
