I’m glad I did the right thing. I have NEVER seen that and I’m glad I was right there when it started. It didn’t drip into the incubator and the air coming from it smells fine. The egg didn’t really stink either though so I’m just so puzzled.Congratulations on your two babies!
Good that you removed the leaking egg. You made the right decision.
I’m sorry about your other eggs.
Congratulations on the 2 babies! We’ve had two babies hatch! A Sumatra and a Silkie. The Sumatra is Splash! The Silkie is… highlighter yellow. Will send pics later!
That first egg to pip started to leak something bubbly and bright yellow, almost green.I’ve never seen anything like that. I removed it from the incubator and I could see the chick had passed recently, and looked malformed. I’m so worried it’s something I’m doing wrong to have had several chicks since starting not form properly. The mess of the egg has me confused. I’m the only one who opens the incubator and I wash my hands with antibacterial soap and thoroughly dry before touching anything, so I’m not sure how it could’ve gotten like that.

I originally had it set to 100 on previous hatches since the Govee said it got down to 98.8 but ranged up to 99.5.Congratulations on the 2 babies!
Something could be amiss with your machine, deformaties usually stem from either high temps in the machine and or genetics. You mentioned getting up to 100 degrees? The temp may be inching above 100.0 occasionally and this may be causing issues.![]()
It's trial and error for sure. And many times some machines work better than others. Some brands too. Once you figure out what works, it's smoother sailing with the hatches.I originally had it set to 100 on previous hatches since the Govee said it got down to 98.8 but ranged up to 99.5.I was worried it was indeed that cold so I had them all at 100, which ranged from 99.3-100 about. But I also think it was really accounting for the forced air since they were all hatching super early! We did have a power outage this set but our generator cuts on within seconds, so I can’t imagine that did the damage. I may honestly try a different room.
They’re all out of direct sunlight and away from drafts, but we’ve got computers in there and it’s not a large room. is it possible the ambient temperature is doing damage?
It doesn’t really get above 75 in there but it feels like a sauna sometimes on hot days. And we’ve definitely had some lately.
