I live in a small town close to san antonio and can make it to the show on april 2nd. I have been wanting to order chicks from a hatchery but im wanting nicer birds. Shipped eggs just dont work for me. Wife had a bad experence and said not again. Never been to a show before and was wondering if there are birds for sale? If so ill be there early lol

Hello notchicken,
I am glad to hear you all will be able to make it to the show. I think both you and your wife will be very pleased with the show and will have a really great time. Yes, I am pretty certain that there will be birds available for sale at the show . There will also be quality birds available in the bucket raffles (with a bucket raffle - you buy tickets, place the tickets in the buckets of the items you hope to win and then later in the show a winner is drawn from each bucket - FUN!). Also, at the show you will have the opportunity to see quality birds, meet the breeders of those birds and chat with them about their stock (perhaps make arrangements to purchase birds, chicks or even hatching eggs from them). I've found that pretty much everyone at the show is going to be more than happy to talk chickens... it's an exceptionally friendly group. I hope to meet you all at the show!

I will have to second what hipeatall said, you will be able to meet a lot of breeders to talk about birds.

Keep in mind that this is a late spring show so most breeders will not have a lot of stock for sale because they are in the breeding mode. Plus it is a little difficult to sell birds in Texas because of the rules set out by the TAHC.
Having said all that I feel that you should be able to find something that will hold you over till fall when everyone will be selling their spring hatches.
