FANS in yer coops/runs?? Whos got em...........

I have a fan blowing into my bantams cabana coop and the larger girls tractor. I also freeze water bottles and milk jugs and put those in the coops as well. I found the big girls will perch on them when they are really hot and the bantams will huddle around them. When they thaw, I replace them with new frozen bottles and refreeze.

We have a small square fan zip tied to the screen in the window of the coop. I turn it on in the evening for the night when they are roosting. They aren't in the coop much during the day but to grab a bite to eat so i just wet down their pen during the day.

have a large stall fan in mine also. It is the same model I use in my llama stall, and I thought it would be too much for them. Well, the girls would all go to the llama stall and stand in front of it, so.........I guess they were telling me they didnt want a little window fan. LOL.

I keep a fan going in the barn all summer, night and day. Even when it isn't hot, I like that it keeps the air circulating, which is good for drying out the bedding and keeping the concrete walls and floor from getting too much moisture condensation.

For a long time, I had an oscillating fan on a stand. It was great because it kept turning. But some of the roosters liked to perch on it, maybe it was sort of an amusement park ride for them. And then they'd poop into grill of the fan, and it gave a whole new meaning to the saying, "...when the s--t hits the fan"!

Eventually, they wore the fan out!

Now I have a large box fan perched on a trash barrel. It doesn't oscillate, but it is large enough to keep a nice breeze circulating around the 12'X20' chicken/waterfowl barn.

HAHA!! I feel as though I've done something momentus here!! It is currently 79 degrees in my house.. AND 77 degrees in my girls coop!!!!

I have a 4X4 coop. I've got a small fan running with three frozen bottles of water in front of it..... and two additional large jugs of frozen water one of which I put on the roost so they are sleeping next to it. I will sleep better knowing they are a little more cool than I am tonite!
