I'm proud to say we had an amazing hatch! We had 9 out of 12 eggs hatch, but we kept the last 2 in the bator. (The 12th egg cracked half-way through)
This is awesome!! Sadly, our 3 week old button quail did not like the new company, although she was fine with them when they were all on a blanket. I assume this is because of her either being territorial, or because they scare her. She seemed to freak whenever they got near her.
(We moved her to a 10 gallon tank for the time so she can see them, while enjoying her own space. I think she's happier with us rather than the chicks.)

If anyone would like to help us identify them (unless they're too young), that'd be awesome!

So do you already have quail layers or ones that are older as first batch?

I just have one 3 week old. She was apart of our first clutch, but we ended up with a lot of infertile eggs. We assumed doing a second clutch and introducing her to the chicks (having them side by side) might work, but I had a feeling she'd peck at them. I've heard they can be pretty nasty for birds the size of hamsters. And apparently females are more likely to fight over territory?

I also wanted to ask, seeing as I got mixed reactions from other threads.
Because they all hatched at once, should they be okay as a group? I've read that buttons tend to work best as pairs, but others say that they're fine as long as they hatched together. Also, will our 40 gallon work for them? Should I consider upgrading to either a larger tank, or a rabbit cage? I saw a post talking about how the odors can affect them, and I know most birds have sensitive respiratory systems.
I can provide them all sorts of hiding places as we managed to snag a lot of fake plants from a Petco that was going out of business.

sorry, once they feather out they MUST be in pairs... I have personal experience..... Someone I gave a pair 2 added more from the same clutch... All but one was killed.
