View attachment 2471183How many birds might this sort of thing hold? I’m looking for plans to coops that will hold about 25 chickens
I'd need dimensions, but with a chicken for scale, it looks to be about 45' long? Unless I'm awful at estimating? And 45x30ish would give enough run space for 25 chickens, even with the coop taking away some space.

Great I thought so to. It’s what I’m aiming for for size

Guys I want to save up money for things but I need help prioritizing
Things I'd like to buy, and costs:
-Weight set (undetermined cost as I'm not sure what weights i'd like)

-Stuff to hide a geocache (probably around $100 in total, mostly because of the fancy notebook I'd like to use as a log) This one can be long term, because I haven't been geocaching for very long, so I should definitely do more first.

-wall mounted chicken feeder (somewhere between $10 and $70)

-sketchbook ($38) (yes that is expensive but LOOK https://www.etsy.com/listing/822512...ther+notebook&ref=sr_gallery-1-16&frs=1&bes=1 )

-candle making supplies (around $50)

-Baby Chicks (together, with cost of feeder, waterer, brooder, heat plate, shipping....upwards of $200)

help
Here’s what you can do. For that feeder issue, I suggest asking your parents for help. They would surely be understanding and support you. Your birthday is coming up and that sounds like a good gift. Perhaps make a “birthday list” and put that Sketchbook, Feeder, and Weight Set on it. Next, we cut down those chick costs. Store bought Feeders and Waterers are NOT required. For their feeder and waterer watch this video https://www.google.com/search?q=diy...ile&ie=UTF-8#kpvalbx=_F1zvX9HdAYSQ5wKjsqDoBw4

brooders are simple. I think for 3 chicks a plastic tub would work fantastic. Or perhaps as I do, a kiddie pool (or as I call them “duck pools” after having raised ducks with them) with chicks. Wire wrapped around so they cannot jump out. It’s a good amount of room and works GREAT for your number of birds. Also very very cheap. For that brooder plate, perhaps your could buy one or put it on your birthday list as well. Parents are generous. My birthday is coming up and I’m going to ask ONLY for a big 25 chicken run lol! Good luck!

I had been looking at one of these for a brooder:
https://www.amazon.com/ToysOpoly-Playpen-Exercise-Puppy-Kennel/dp/B013Q7FGEI
Because they're cat proof, large enough to grow out chicks for 6-8 weeks, and the solid panels on the bottoms of the sides will help keep shavings in. Plus I can reach in from the sides instead of just the top.
I have trouble finding plastic tubs that offer 6 square feet of space! How large are kiddie pools? Thanks for the feeder and waterer ideas!!

Birthday list with the sketchbook and feeder and stuff sounds like a good idea.

I love that brooder idea! Price made me jump though. Look up “kiddie pool brooder” to see a comparison with chicks.

Yeah, the price is the setback with that one. A brooder would be in my room (no other good location for it) so I think that a kiddie pool would be too big for it? Also less cat proof?

Good point, I kept mine in a mudroom with the door always shut so no cat issues. If you had a dog I would say to use a dog crate but I doubt you have one. When keeping one in your room you will want to be careful because chicks make lots of dust and that dust will stiff up allergies pretty bad. It’s like living in a chicken coop. Clean it daily to keep the air clear. 35 dollars will be a sacrifice but if you think you will use it again in the future, go for it!

I could use it as kitty jail.......
And realistically as a sick place for sick chickens that need to come inside.
I don't have any allergies that I'm aware of. The optimal location would be the basement, but there's no temperature control down there. Mudroom is too small, living room won't work, and nobody else wants chicks in their room. I'd put a tarp down underneath the brooder to catch dust and stop it from going all over the floor lol
