Farm chatter

Yay!!!

Ooh! Sebbies! I'm gonna need tons of pics of them! How many eggs do you have in?

Seven, but Sophia is a pretty old egg and the air cell is completely detached so I'm not sure about that one. We'll see! I'm really really hopeful! My last batch of shipped goose eggs were a flop. Goose eggs really don't take well to shipping.

Hopefully they do well! I love goosies.
How far did they travel?

Well, these Seramas are just about ready to hatch, or they should be...I candled them and while the eggs are definitely filled with a chick, I only see one that is definitely viable. If I end up with one Serama chick after rescuing them from a broody hen I will be so bummed. Even more so if none of my own eggs are fertilized and I'm left scrambling to find a friend for this chick. lol

This one looks good

These two I'm not so sure about.

The last one def looks like a quitter.
The middle one looks off too. :hmm

I hope so too!! The parent geese are STUNNING! It's their very first year laying and the eggs traveled from Texas to Georgia so not a short trip but certainly not the longest either. After going back and forth about the shipping we decided to try out UPS because they had a 2-day guarantee and the best price believe it or not. My friend also packaged these eggs to withstand the apocalypse so that certainly improved their chances of hatching. lol!

I'm thinking the same but I wasn't monitoring these eggs so I just made sure they weren't stinky and put them in the incubator. One of the eggs was cold when she handed it to me today so I think it rolled out from under the broody for who knows how long and it's cold outside right now.

Yeah. Looks like it just recently quit unfortunately. That first one is going strong, hopefully it hatches! Those are the only chicken eggs you're incubating currently?

It escalated really quickly, lol. I just set those eggs yesterday and now I have those 3 broody's eggs and I'm filling at least one more incubator.

Here are the experimental refrigerator eggs that I'm putting in, lol.

I'm just allowing them to sit out to get to room temperature before putting them in. I'll save eggs from my girls for a few days to swap out any of these that don't start developing instead of turning on another incubator.
