Farm chatter

I may be interested in one but I assume your going to make a regular indian blue one. I would want a white one but consider this a suggestion since I'm not sure I'll be able to buy two things.
I miss our white peacock

One of my housemates is talking about getting some fancy colored new ... do you still call them india blues if they're a different color? lol. anyway, india color morphs, not javas. so I asked SO about our track record with peafowl because all I can really recall is that some existed before that dont exist now... @EmmaRainboe were you the one asking me about them?

I mentioned to him that like... Mickey died by going into the dog yard - assumed because crazy amounts of white feathers and no more Mickey... but, though that is true, I hadn't realized that Mickey was like 15+ years old.

and I mentioned a few others too cause I know we had some pieds... and one was named Spot and he reminded me that he hit Spot with his car.. and we sold some males... and since we are so low on females we probably had some males leave and go find somewhere else to live - I hadn't thought about the fact that our neighbors seeing them in their yards could mean like off shoots that have left our flock. oh, and there was another one with a name but SO said it roosted in the barn which was very not predator proof.

so the long and short is... there's a reasonable explanation for the general losses and maybe if we actually pay attention to the birds again, we will be good.

long winded way of saying... apparently we havent really had predator issues, aside from hens on nests.

stuff doesn't make you lastingly happy! experiences do. and raising chickens is an experience. ha!***

also I'm in this awkward phase rn where I'm not supposed to wear normal clothes when I do yard work or chicken stuff or whatever because I'm inevitably going to snag something on something... but its its the pandemic so its not like I go places? so I either wear trash clothes outside or like yoga pants inside and my clothes that I like have just been sitting for a year :(

***not saying you shouldn't buy BCs stuff just that you shouldn't not buy chickens

I'd wear your normal clothes, just not your fancy clothes. Clothes are meant to be worn! Have fun!
