We're allowed to keep exotic Pheasants, & quail here in Michigan without a permit. The only thing we need a permit for is native quail species, Mongolian, & Mongolian Ring Neck Pheasants if we get more then 12 of the Pheasants. Plus we won't be able to breed them, for family use. It's raise them up, & eat them.

Mutant versions of Quail, like Tennessee Red Quail, are mutant Bobwhite quail, you don't need a permit to keep. Mutant Ring Neck, & Mongolian you don't need a permit for, & keep. Basically we can keep anything that doesn't resemble the Species listed.
