SHEEP WEARING COATS IS THE BEST VISUAL OH MY GOD I LOVE THAT IDEA
You're supposed to shear sheep in the winter, before lambing, and the year of the giant polar vortex, we were worried about them getting too cold. We put coats on them and they FREAKED. The rams knocked a gate over and one of the ewes tore hers... and we decided they weren't going to get coats XD. Too bad, we went to all the work sewing them up. If you do get some, definitely buy some that are made by professionals XD
I LOVE him! Give him lots of pets form he! He's so cute!
Will do!

You'd be surprised at how doable all of that is! With 2 acres of cleared land, you could have everything on your realistic list. With 3 acres of cleared land, you could have almost everything on your fantasy list! (You would have to choose between goats, sheep or a horse. You could probably have small goats along with sheep or a horse if you wanted).

On three acres, I have 5 chicken coops (2 LF tractors, one bachelor pad, one bantam coop, and a broiler tractor---I was hit with a severe case of chicken math, and have 59 chickens, plus 13 broilers), ducks, turkeys, 4 sheep with lambs coming, and barn cats. For pets, 2 pet cats, rabbits, and guinea pigs. It's definitely possible to have a lot of animals in a small-medium space!

It's cool that you are volunteering on a farm, you will get a lot of experience for when you can start your own homestead! Sorry if I am just jumping into your thread.
I'm more worried about cost and time management than space, to be honest. I think that goats and sheep take precedence over a horse- although I love riding, I don't think that I'd be able to ride every day, and give a horse the proper time and carei t deserves.

I'm so jealous of all your chickens!!!!!! Chicken math is an amazing thing. I'd love to see pictures of all your pets!

I'm super excited as well! I'm enjoying it so much already. Jumping into the thread is fine! The more the merrier :)

Here's my Sumatras.

Cockerel.
He has pointy saddles coming in, but the flash made them hard to see. I used flash because the lighting was horrible.

That's all for now, lol.
I forgot about guineas!!!! They're so beautiful!!!! *adds to the perpetually growing list of fantasy pets*
Your quail is so handsome!! I love his little floof on his head.
The ferrets are ADORABLE!! They seem like so much fun. I was interested in ferrets for a while, but they seem kind of messy, and I've also heard that they have very short lifespans, which might be a bit hard on me.
I love your rabbit! So floofy! Her coloring is beautiful. How do you keep your rabbits? I think that if I got one, I'd rabbit proof a room and give it free range of that room.
Hamster- SO. CUTE! I love her name. She looks so cozy, all cuddled up in her little bco!
You just made me so jealous- you managed to pick some of my favorite colorings of chickens  Partridge is a totally underrated color, IMO. The dark browns with that subtle pattern on each feather looks amazing! and DON"T get me started on BLRWs. They. are. Gorgeous! What are your girls' names?
Your quail chicks are so cute and tiny!!!! I think I might need some. What do you do with extra male quail? I know that you can't get them vent sexed because they're so small. How do quail work?
Avery is amazing!! Tell her I say happy birthday. Does she like swimming?

Pretty babies!! I love all black chickens-they look like shadow chickens! So fancy and mysterious! Yours look amazing!
Thanks, they'll be going outside soon. Just waiting for them to get enough down feathers since it's colder out.

I have a Sumatra cockerel named Shadow. He's my oldest one. He's 10 months old now, I believe.

True, cost and time are huge factors, but there are so many ways to save on both! I don't use any bedding for the chickens, so that's a huge save. Sheep only need hay during winter and grain during lambing season, so they are pretty cost effective. They can sustain themselves on just grass during spring-fall. Selling eggs and chicks of course are great ways to earn back from the chickens.

I didn't believe in chicken math at first, until I kept getting chickens.... Then I realized it was 100% real. I would love to share some pictures of my pets! I mostly have bantam pictures and cat pictures, but I can get some sheep, Lf chicken, and turkey pictures if you want to see them.

Sage, my sweet Bantam Barred Cochin. Bantams cochins are the best roosters ever, he is my friendliest chicken and likes getting picked up.

I love all of your animals! I'm going to hit the hay now, but I'll be back in the morning. I'll give you a better response than 'I love all of your animals!' also.
